Torishima Slams Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Even Though It's Straight Peak So Far
Toriyama's longtime editor isn't feeling the remake, despite critics praising its improved pacing and animation.

Akira Toriyama's legendary editor on Dr. Slump and the original Dragon Ball manga, Kazuhiko Torishima, says he's not a fan of the new anime remake Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, according to GameRant. He voiced his criticism on X even as the series is drawing praise elsewhere for its improvements over the 2015 original.
Critics have pointed out that the remake's opening scene does a better job framing Goku's arc than the original ever did, with noticeably improved animation, art direction and pacing. Torishima's pushback puts him at odds with that early reception, though the specifics of his complaint weren't detailed beyond his public reaction.
