Toriyama Archives Just Dropped A Never-Before-Seen Super Saiyan Goku Drawing From 1991
The raw art ran on Weekly Shonen Jump's highest-circulation issue ever, 6.15 million copies.

The Toriyama Archives just unearthed a raw, never-before-published Super Saiyan Goku drawing straight from Akira Toriyama himself, and it's peak. The image originally ran on the cover of Weekly Shonen Jump's No. 36/37 double issue back on August 31, 1991, drawn by Toriyama to celebrate the magazine hitting a record 6.15 million copies in circulation, a number Shonen Jump isn't anywhere close to touching today.
The art captures Goku mid-Android Saga: full Super Saiyan form, flying straight at the viewer with a dead-serious look and the kind of massive Z-era muscles that made that whole arc iconic. No debate, this is Toriyama at his most locked-in.
Separately, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus drops October 11, and early trailers are showing way cleaner animation than the original Super run ever got.
