Your Dragon Ball binge counts toward this.

Nielsen pays a panel of people to measure what the world actually streams — and the panel is open. Install it, then put on the next episode like you were going to anyway. That session is the data they pay for. You are not watching instead of earning. The watching is the earning.

So the Dragon Ball actually counts?

Yes. Nielsen is measuring what you stream, not grading it. There is no approved-show list and nothing to log — a Dragon Ball rewatch registers exactly like anything else you put on. Nine episodes deep on a Sunday is nine episodes of the thing they are paying to measure. The only difference from a normal night is that this one pays.

How it works.

  1. 1Install the appNielsen Pulse, on the phone you already stream with.
  2. 2Take the screenerA short survey decides whether you fit the panel they are building.
  3. 3Connect your servicesLink the streaming accounts you use. This is where the bonuses sit.
  4. 4Leave it runningIt measures in the background. There is nothing to do after setup.

The honest numbers.

This is a background earner, not an income. Anyone promising otherwise is selling you something.

What it pays

Points for gift cards — Amazon, Walmart, Target and others. Not cash.

Realistic total

Panelists report roughly $50-60 a year per registered device.

What it needs

VPN, location and notification permissions. That is how it measures.

What it sees

Sites, apps and time online. Nielsen states it does not collect passwords, messages or call contents.

Expiry

Rewards lapse 12 months after they are awarded, or when you leave the panel.

The questions you actually have.

Is this actually Nielsen?+

Yes. Nielsen Pulse is Nielsen's own panel app. They have measured what people watch since 1950 — the ratings that decide which shows get renewed are theirs.

Why does it want VPN permission?+

That is how it measures. The app routes traffic so it can see which sites and apps you use and for how long. It is the real trade, and if it bothers you the honest answer is not to install it.

What can it actually see?+

Sites, apps and time online. Nielsen states it does not collect passwords, usernames, texts, or the contents of your messages and calls.

Can I leave?+

Yes, any time. Rewards lapse 12 months after they are awarded, or when you leave the panel — whichever comes first — so cash them out before you go.

Is this a lot of money?+

No. Panelists report roughly $50-60 a year per device. It is a background earner for streaming you were doing anyway, not an income.

Worth it?

If you stream most evenings and do not mind a measurement app running, it is a few gift cards a year for one setup you never touch again. If handing over browsing and streaming data bothers you, skip it — that is the actual trade, and it is the whole product.
