Every Dragon Ball Halloween costume you can actually buy this year, ranked by flex

Forty-five real listings, one honest ranking. Frieza is the only villain worth the money, Roshi wins every party, and the Goku gi is where everyone else ends up.

Halloween is three weeks out and Dragon Ball Super: Beerus hits Crunchyroll this Sunday, October 11 — the first new Dragon Ball anime since Daima. Dragon Ball costumes are about to go from “nice reference” to “the room gets it instantly.” So we went through the entire Dragon Ball section at HalloweenCostumes.com — all 45 listings, adult through infant — and ranked every one of them by a single metric: how hard it goes when you walk in.

S-tier: the room goes quiet. Frieza final form is the only villain costume in the whole lineup and it is the best thing on the page — nobody else is showing up as the guy who blew up Planet Vegeta. Piccolo with the cape is second, because the cape does the work for you. Then the two Saiyan silhouettes that read as anime instead of cosplay: the authentic Goku gi and Vegeta’s armor, which also exists in plus size — something most licensed lines forget.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus - October 11

A-tier: party cheat codes. Master Roshi is the smartest pick on the list — shirt, shell, staff, and you are the one person at the party allowed to be a creep on purpose. Trunks with the sword is the one your younger cousin picks. Both Bulma fits — the yellow DBZ one and the pink OG Dragon Ball dress — are the best couples option this franchise has. And the women’s Goku is a real costume, not a “sexy” reskin, which is rarer than it should be.

B-tier: standard-issue gi. Nothing wrong with any of these. Four Goku variants — adult, men’s, plus size and Super Saiyan — plus an adult Gohan. The Super Saiyan version is currently the cheapest adult gi on the site, which makes the choice for you. The only reason these are not higher is that four other guys at the party had the same idea.

Kids and toddlers: the tail is undefeated. Kid Goku with the tail is the single most reliable Halloween photo of the year, and it exists in infant, toddler and child sizes. Past that, child Vegeta, Piccolo, Trunks and Gohan mean four kids can be the entire Namek arc. Kids Roshi exists and we have questions.

Wigs and kits: the $30 flex. If you do one thing, do the hair — a Vegeta wig or a Super Saiyan wig over a black tee is a complete costume to anyone who matters. The Roshi kit at $19.99 is the cheapest thing on this page and arguably the funniest. Saiyan armor on its own over a blue long-sleeve is the budget Vegeta that still lands. And the Dragon Ball purse is the correct accessory for every costume above.

Prices are what HalloweenCostumes.com showed when we checked on October 9; sale tags move daily. Watch the Beerus premiere on Crunchyroll this Sunday, then go pick your fighter.
